Hi, I’m Erin, and I’m excited to be your tutor! In my teaching reviews from graduate school, students write that I'm fun, engaging, and knowledgeable, that I make them feel safe, that my love for plants is infectious, and that I am “one of the best.”

Hi, I’m Erin, and I’m excited to be your tutor! In my teaching reviews from graduate school, students write that I'm fun, engaging, and knowledgeable, that I make them feel safe, that my love for plants is infectious, and that I am “one of the best.”
I am a dedicated scientist with 6 years of experience in ecosystem restoration and symbioses. I have two master's degrees and am an NSF fellow. I am extremely knowledgable in botany, ecology, plant-rhizosphere interactions, and science writing (IB Biology IA's and scientific papers). I have taught biology courses at the college and high school level, including college level Community Ecology, Plants and Society, Plant Ecology and Field Botany. I have taught General Biology at the 9th grade level (early high school) and Higher Level IB Biology to high school seniors (12th grade). I am currently deep diving into my interest in the physiology of all organisms, currently humans, plants and fungi. I thrive most when tutoring my high school students one-on-one or when working with small groups of friends who work well together. As a credentialed teacher (come June) I am trained in universal design for learning and am fantastic at providing information and exercises in a way that is helpful and fair. I have about 100 video lessons that I recorded during lectures in my IB Biology classroom. I will miss teaching very much, but I'm looking forward to focusing on teaching, which I believe I will have the ability to do in a tutoring job.
