How do I apply for an Ignition Interlock License in New York?

To apply for an Ignition Interlock License in New York, you must complete the following steps:

Go to the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) website and download the Ignition Interlock License application.
Fill out the application and submit it to the DMV along with the following required documents:
- Proof of identification
- Proof of insurance
- Proof of enrollment in an approved Ignition Interlock program
- A completed financial affidavit

New York Ignition Interlock Financial Assistance

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services administers an Ignition Interlock Fund to provide financial assistance to those required to install an IID in their vehicles who cannot afford it. To qualify for the financial assistance, you must meet the following criteria:

You must be a New York State resident
You must have been convicted of a DWI
You must be unable to afford the cost of an IID
