Should Your Client Change Ignition Interlock Providers?

March 3, 2020

One of the first tasks your DUI client may face is finding an Ignition Interlock provider. But even after they choose a provider, there may still be issues. They may discover that it’s time to change Ignition Interlock providers.

Let them know they don’t have to stay locked in to their current provider. Many Smart Start clients have moved their service from other programs. Here’s a quick overview of how easy it is for your clients to switch to Smart Start if they’re not satisfied with their current Ignition Interlock Device program.

Five tips for choosing a successful Ignition Interlock Program

Why Would Your Client Change Ignition Interlock Providers?

Misleading pricing and hidden fees are a common complaint. Your client can depend on honest, transparent pricing, with no surprise charges or last-minute changes. From beginning to end, they’ll know exactly what to expect.

Four other common complaints are:

  • Ignition Interlock Devices that don’t work properly, or are difficult to use.
  • Poor installation or ongoing maintenance.
  • Billing problems or limited payment options.
  • Poor customer service.

Changing Ignition Interlock providers is the perfect way to solve all of those issues.

Why is Customer Care so important?

There’s no question that Ignition Interlock Devices save lives. We’ve led the way in Ignition Interlock Service since 1992. Millions of drivers have counted on us for discreet, easy-to-use devices that are installed and maintained by skilled professional at thousands of locations.

Quality customer service is never an issue. Our multilingual Customer Care center is available 365/24/7 for questions your clients may have. This helps reduce the possibility of misinformation, making life easier for both you and your client.

Switching Providers is Simple

The process is easy. It’s important for your client to let the Ignition Interlock State Authority know that they want to switch providers. Some states have to give permission before any change in providers.

Once they have the appropriate clearance, they’ll have their current device removed from the vehicle. After that, they can contact Smart Start at (800) 831-3299, or go online to schedule installation of a new device. Our specialists will walk them through the rest of the process.

Remind your client that they cannot drive their vehicle without an Ignition Interlock Device. A friend or family member should drive them in the appropriate vehicle for the installation.
